Last Demo of J3a Hudson Before Finalizing

This will be the last demonstration of the J3a Hudson before it goes into the final stage of production. The model is by Darlan Gomes (DSGDDR) and I am presenting it in this video. I tried to show as much of what is operational on the J3a while I was driving our route The New York Central Water Level Route. Some things to keep your eyes on are the valve gear, the new sounds, the bell, the whistle, the booster and stack for it, the compressor sounds while breaking and stationary, the windows, and several other things that I may or may not have activated. It was a bear trying to drive the Hudson while being both engineer and fireman as I usually run auto fireman.

We have been thinking of introducing the route along with the Hudson and thought it might be better if we included a smaller portion of the route from Utica to Frankfort to allow for an earlier release of the Hudson to the community. The shorter route would also include what track is already laid from Utica to St. Johnsville, NY, but the scenery would only been done through Frankfort. This stretch of the route would allow for some switching, engine facilities, highballing, and several other aspects of the route. Also, one needs to know that this route is not a historically precise representation of the route, in fact, it is a bit of fiction to say the least. Jon and I have had some fun building it and some major setbacks too.

Feed back on the J3a Hudson and the route are truly welcome as long as the input is constructive criticism. Note: Darlan will not be building any other NYC motive power after the J3a Hudson as he has some work he wants to do on some Union Pacific steam motive power, so please don't ask for the Mohawk or the Niagara class locomotives at this time, thank you

To be honest, some UP steam would be a welcome addition too, to team with Alpen's heritage Sherman Hill. !!*ok*!!

Darlan and I would like to thank you all for your responses. So, obviously this model needs no specific modifications.

I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again: that looks fantastic! I can't wait to take that Hudson for a spin! Hopefully it will be easy enough to reskin for us who has to make everything a different road name! !*roll-laugh*! !*roll-laugh*!

I think this may answer your question. The name on the tender is done through the major texture of the unit, the decal was too small for my needs.... :D

If I could add one thing, and this is not a criticism but an observation, and that is exhaust and steam emissions. If you have a look at some of the newer British steam loco releases (or even Mike's FEF3's), they have managed to increase the volume and "hang time" of both the smoke exhaust and cylinder and safety valve steam. Big locos with high capacity boiler pressures have big emissions. Some "plume hang" on the newer British locos extend to 6-7 carriages in length before dissipating.

Not sure what is involved - just an observation.

Just beautiful work all round **!!bow!!**

!*cheers*!

I'll let Darlan know, but I believe he is finished with the emitters. If I remember correctly, he was trying to keep the fps down to allow for the J3a to run with other higher count equipment. Before the lods were handled it was tough to have two of these locomotives in one yard. A lot of the emissions were handled through scripting, so I will leave that to him, but I will point him to the thread. I know when the engine starts to move you can see the drift of the smoke towards the ground.

That's awesome! I think once this beauty is released, the first repaint I will do is for the Riverside Waterton & Atlantic

Sobre o tempo da fumaça eu diminui por causa da efeito que tentei fazer por script, vou tentar aumentar o tempo até onde o script não deixe a fumaça agir de forma estranha. obrigado pela sua opinião.
Google:
About the time of the smoke I decrease because of the effect that I tried to do by script, I will try to increase the time until the script does not let the smoke act in a strange way. Thank you for your opinion.

Very nice work, especially the model details, but I do wish the chuffs were louder. It's hard to hear them over the background noises. Maybe you can ask Rick Grout about letting you use some of his locomotive noises.

If you're willing to spend a bit of money, here's the correct NYC font. - http://www.railfonts.com/cgi-bin/font_s ... page9.html

Having used said font, I personally think it's worth it for that extra touch of realism.

I'd also like to apologize if it seems like I'm looking a gift horse in the mouth...

You have made four posts on the forum. Every one of them was complaining or criticizing something. We like this to be a positive kind of place. Let's keep it that way. !!**sorry**!!
