Changing loco specs?

I'm already expecting the answer to this question to start out with either "No it's not possible" or "well it's complicated" but here goes:

Is there a way to go in and alter the way a locomotive functions? Like changing the "top speed" of a loco, or the acceleration? I wanted to make repaints of some locomotives but I wanted some of them to be able to go just a *bit* faster, or maybe up the traction to haul just a bit more weight more effectively.
Nothing freakish, I'm not trying to turn a switcher into the jet train.

One specific example is that I wanted to create some fictional repaints of the centipede locos and "optimize" them or whatever for something like a passenger service where they could reach 100 mph. "Just for fun".

I'm sure RWtools will have something to do with the answer, so yes, I have RWtools. I've never used it, though.

Brian

P.S. I'm not releasing any of these altered locos on the workshop. As I said, it's "Just for fun"

P.P.S. The word "prototypical" is banned from this thread.

It is all possible to change.
I don't really know how to do it myself but the best way to learn would be look at the bin files that someone like Fanrailer has modified next to the standard bin file and see what the changes are.

Thanks for your help! I've downloaded a couple of his files to compare.

I tried changing the bin file on one of these FF2 units I made below to make it go faster but it didn't, uh...really do much *!rolleyes!* I don't think I changed the right thing though, so I'll put meddling with that on hold till this weekend when all my classes will be done and I can have time to experiment etc. But I think I lied when I said I'd never used RWtools cause I've done repaints before. Oops lol.

Anyways, I had some fun making these and I'm excited to do more with this and other assets. I'm still pretty novice at Photoshop but I'm really enjoying the learning process.

Maybe one day I'll make something prototypical and upload it to the file library.
