A bus on rails?

No you didn't read incorrectly. I just want to know if it's possible to put a bus on rails in TS2018? I intend to build the body, along with the chassis including the accelerator, brakes etc.

The first question I have is the following: Is it possible for a 'railcar' to have a transmission that operates automatically? These buses have automatic 5 speed gearboxes.

What got me interested in doing such a task is the fact that these vehicles are about as popular as horse manure. They have terrible bodies, and accelerate very slowly compared to more modern ones. They also run on CNG, but it won't make a difference. I will treat the diesel fuel as CNG :).

I actually do have some sounds for them, so that isn't an issue.

Having not exported any sort of wagon or locomotive into the sim before, I would like to know if there are significant factors that will have an effect on the realistic operation of this 'railbus'? Obviously the steering wheel won't be of any use.

Here is an image of the vehicle's current state. It is a CNG NL232. Basically just a shell at the moment. I just want something to drive up and down the line that is a 'local' so to speak.

Thanks in advance.

It is definitely possible, it was done here in the UK and they are still in service.
These are the experimental ones and you can see the bus body clearly.
The ones that entered service had proper cabs build on to the bus sides.

As for the model there is already a pacer railbus in the game that might help with the blueprint side of things.
I've not been in one in years but i'm sure they are automatic gearboxes so i'm not sure how you'd script the gear changes.

A diesel with no particles exhaust modeled as a bus with the proper physics.
