Headlight Question

Hi everyone, so I realize that this has probably been asked a million times but I can't seem to find a definitive answer. First, is it possible to edit headlight brightness with the .bin file? Second, if so, what would I need to edit? Or what field should I look for?

Thanks!

What locomotive are you inquiring about? It depends.

Well it's the CTA 5000 series by Briman94. I found something under common-lighting or something like that but I'm not sure if that's where you would edit it.

This is the relevant section:

Code: Select all
                               <Radius d:type="sFloat32">100</Radius>
               <Phi d:type="sFloat32">25</Phi>
               <Theta d:type="sFloat32">4</Theta>
               <Colour>
                  <cHcColour>
                     <Red d:type="sFloat32">0.5</Red>
                     <Green d:type="sFloat32">0.5</Green>
                     <Blue d:type="sFloat32">0.3</Blue>
                     <Alpha d:type="sFloat32">1</Alpha>
                  </cHcColour>

Just reduce the values of red,green and blue and you'll get realistic lights. Alpha is not relevant.
Sometimes I use even smaller values.
On older locos you don't see any light on the ground in the daytime.
With such reduced light you may extend the distance, but you have to check the performance in the game (shift+z).
A smooth theta let things becomming slowly brighter when approaching.

Then there is this thing called Flaresize. I think it is too emphasized in the game. Just reduce it to a maximum value of 1.
