photoshop alpha channel help please

so here is the repaint i have (not mine) as you can see too shinny, but after i simply darken the alpha to try and get it less shinny, i get this, i have no clue what to do to fix this, can any of you help me out? im on photoshop cc 2015, but most all ps are the same

You did something other than just change the alpha.

Yes, that looks like a texture color or compression issue.
