TOFC on The Feather River Canyon

Unread postby QcRail » Wed Apr 19, 2017 4:54 pm

I've been a bit tired of seeing long, long TOFC flatcars with no-names; thus I've started a repaint project to remedy at this unsavory situation.
Here is a sample to come for a bit of variety !*brav*!

1. Based on the Kuju RTTX-90 TOFC flatcar and 2. Semi-trailers from GreatNortherner (great model to repaint 1024x1024 textures) !!*ok*!!

I've two versions of US Postal Service Vans - «Mail must go through» !!*ok*!! and note the 2 versions of WP flatcars !*brav*!

I like where you're going!

That is one thing that bugs me to no end about this game, is the lack of trailer/container variations. Although the containers are a lot better now than they were a few years ago.

Looks great so far! I don't want to create a list of requests, but I would love to have some Santa Fe trailers to haul behind my updated Santa Fe SD45s. *!greengrin!*

My memory ain't what it used to be, so I had to go check.

Those particular TOFC are from 2 files called "tofcpak.zip" and "tofcpak2.zip" made by David Murphy (ADNRAILFAN) and get installed in ../RDSL/USWagons01/RailVehicles/Freight/FlatcarRTTX90. They probably came off the TrainSim site long ago. Might still be there. The flat beds under these trailers were labeled "KCS". Others are TTX.

If you get the RCAP freeware pack from the library there are lots of 45ft and 53ft trailers pre-named in there, by 90000ft, when he was creating stuff for the community a few year's ago. I have his stuff archived from his old website, but, I'm sure that you experts can change the bin files and get them to show up as loads on the various empty flatcars we have in the game, there are about a dozen different companies represented, including JB Hunt, Schneider, UPS, FedEx, Roadway, etc, etc.
All these new ones from QcRail are absolute beauties, we can never have too many of these in the game, well done that man. !!*ok*!!

Indeed "ex-railwayman" is right-on! this is the reason I've not tried to replicate «90000ft» semi-trailers; but instead I do my trailers based on the excellent model produced by GreatNorthern, which uses a 1024x1024 canvas - making it possible to have finer and crisper details, such as small font or drawing. I have also repainted the Kuju basic RTTX90 flatcar to bear ATSF, SP and WP company markings and/or logos.
... with time I plan to add more vans from various private industries, with a vintage look as close to early TOFC railroad use.

All these new ones from QcRail are absolute beauties, we can never have too many of these in the game, well done that man. !!*ok*!!

Thanks for the positive feedback, and here is today's new addition to my collection !*YAAA*!
