Repainting Questions

When I go to repaint any locomotive (in this case the NS Dash-7) I use paint.net and as always I create a new layer and I set the opacity to 150. When I go to repaint over the existing paint scheme, the NS logo still appears under the new color. I want to continue have the opacity at 150 but is there a way I can somehow paint over the NS logo without the repaint looking odd? I see many repaints that look amazing and I always wonder how they get it to look so good. Help would be appreciated thank you.

Why 150? Have you tried cranking it up all the way?

I would like to see a few things that were added to the NS repaint including weathering. If I put it up all the way I wouldn't see any details on the sides, etc.

I understand. Seems to me without actually trying it that you will have to go back to the original and brush the NS logo(I'm assuming it's not a decal) out to get rid of it.

Yes that is what I thought I would have to do. Thanks and I hope it turns out.

If that doesn't work check back........and always remember "Hope is not a course of action."

I think with the colors I will be using, the "patch" on the NS logo doesn't really appear when I paint the blue over it. Looking good so far.

It's actually working quite well. Santa Fe B36-7 is now a WIP!
