Swapping cabviews

I would like to change the BritKits E-unit cabview and sound file to the KUJU cabview and sound files. Can this be done ? If so any help would be greatly appreciated. The Burlington E7 is the unit in question.

While I can't recall which all changes I had to make, I can tell you where to find two examples that can be used as an aide to performing this conversion. I did these very modifications to the Britkits E8 I repainted in the BN-1 and Virginian and Ohio schemes. I believe I also had to make changes within the simulation file to make the controls work properly. The changes performed are not for the faint of heart. What changes I did make were performed through use of Serz.exe and editing the output xml in context editor.

Copy either the BN-1 or V&O Bin files to a dummy folder, along with the bin file to the E7 you referenced, along with a shortcut to Serz.exe. First fire the referenced E8 file through so it converts to xml. then do the same for your CB&Q E7.

Open both xml files in context editor, looking for the references to the cabview and sound, and noting any differences between the two. at this point, you may copy the changes I had made and apply them within the E7.

When done with the modifications, proof over it once or twice to make sure nothing is amiss. If all looks good, save, and then close out of context editor. Drag the modified xml back through the serz shortcut to apply the changes within the bin file.

NOTE: Before copying this modded bin file into your locomotive's folder, rename the old bin file to something.bin.orig (so the sim won't see it, and so it preserves it as a backup only).

With the original file turned into a backup, copy the bin file you modded into the folder for that CB&Q E7, and test it. It may take some trial, and error to make sure it works properly.
