Just saw this post about PRR Equipment.
Technically, over the years, there were two shades of "gold" used. Until 1953, the lettering color of choice was a color called out by many as Bronze Gold. It held onto an appearance of a Gold Leaf color (This is my personal favorite of the lettering colors). Pennsy's Passenger equipment, and motive power utilized this lettering color and striping color until the 1953 changeover, which changed all striping and lettering to a yellower looking gold (Commonly being called out as Dulux Gold), that was utilized into the 60's (On numbering anyway) and up until the PC Merger.
For lettering until the 1950's, I highly recommend either the font "Clarendon HV BT," or "Pennsyvania." Font would have more of a romanesque appearance. Depending on the locomotive being painted up and it's delivery date would also make all the difference in which color and style the lettering would be.
For the Bronze Gold, I'll recommend RGB Values: 148:130:107. If you want Dulux Gold (1953 on), I recommend RGB Values 198:144:36 (Both captured from highly accurate decals).
Hope this helps a little bit.
