A wealth of information

Just as a quick tip for those of you who are looking for some prototype information:

Archive.org hosts a lot of scanned railroad magazines and journals from around 1890 - 1920. Most of these have been scanned in high resolution, and feature lengthy articles about locomotives, rolling stock, infrastructure, and buildings of the era. Articles usually feature rather verbose descriptions, elevations and sections. Often, components that are new or special get more attention in drawings. It's well worth a look, even if you're just casually interested.

Simply search for the magazines. They come in yearly volumes, usually with an index so you don't have to sift through all of the pages. Some of these magazines are:

Railway Age Gazette - Sometimes known as 'Railroad Age Gazette'.
American Engineer and Railroad Journal - Has a bit more engineering and a bit less business than the above.
Electric Railway Review - Which mainly focuses on interurban transit.
