3d Canvas 7 and locomotives

I copied part of a detailed tutorial into a text doc some time recently, but to make parts of it easier, if I attempt any rolling stock/motive power for TS, I'd like to model most of it in TSM/Train sim Modeler, and then import it into 3DC 7 for finishing and adding the appropriate properties etc.

Just wondering, are there any guides that can help me in regards to getting an imported base loco mesh into a working loco in TS2015? The model I'm thinking of is a suburban railcar

The attached file is from the original Rail Simulator Development documents. It will give you the basics of getting an engine into the sim, but you will probably need further help due to the changes in Train Simulator since this document was published.
