Couplers for new freight car

Unread postby WikiGary » Fri Feb 27, 2015 8:30 pm

I needed a special "Disconnect Log Car" for the mountain railroad I am building between Portland Oregon and Vernonia Oregon. It is the United Railway Branch of the SP&S railway. I bought an HO guage Kadey model and used that to create drawings. I then used Blender to create the car and the logs for loads. I have watched hours of tutorials and I have been following the posts on this and several other forums. I have learned a lot, but I have not been able to figure out how to get the Buckeye couplers in the cars.
I am presuming that I can use the standard Kuju or RSC couplers. Am I wrong about this? If not are there donation ware or free ware coupler files available?

To get a peek at these unique cars check out this posting on my web site.

You can link the default Kuju couplers ( with the proviso that people need the US asset pack or whatever it's called these days ) from your wagon blueprint - once upon a time you could just include Kuju stuff with your distribution, I don't know what the rules are about that anymore.

Re: Couplers for new freight car aka the coupler mystry

Hi:
I have created my own couplers. For a model I used photos of an antique caboose located at the Chamber of Commerce Depot museum in Wickenburg, AZ.
I have created the coupler blueprint compete with open and closed knuckle. I referenced the coupler blueprint in my wagon blueprint and the couplers show up in the right places and open and close when they are supposed to.
Here is the mystery: When I turned a couple copies of the same rail car end for end to see how they mate up that way, no couplers. Zip, nothing, nada. They don't even seem to be inserted backwards in the drawbar socket.
Has anyone else ran across this? If so how do you fix it? How would the game program even know the difference?

!*don-know!*
