[QUESTION] Turning Locos into Rollingstock

Unread postby Noel » Sun Jul 06, 2014 2:24 pm

Hello everyone.

I was wondering, how do I turn a locomotive into a piece of rolling stock? Similar to the RWA HH660 ALCO, one of the locos was a piece of rolling stock, not an actual locomotive. I was wondering just what exactly went into developing something like that. Because if I learn, I might be able to turn steam locos into rolling stock and use them or scenarios.

Thanks,
Noel.

Short way: in RW-Tools, open the asset editor, select the engine, click on "Edit rolling stock", then "Make selected stock dead".

Better way: copy the asset to a new folder, make a wagon blueprint for the asset. reusing the relevant parts of the engine blueprint.
Also re-use the geometry files, textures, etc.

I did it by using a dead loco bin file from the old Brindley GP7 packs. The advantage is that the lights will still pass through, and will work if the wagon is on the end of the train.

Take a look at the bin file for the dead loco.
