Trying to achieve a working process

Unread postby Expressman » Sat Jun 21, 2014 11:56 am

I have TS2014, RWTools, and because I'm a professional graphic designer, Photoshop CC. Also I have an ATI-based video card, not nVidia.

I have no problem converting texture files to DDS in RWT, but I cannot get the .dds into an editable format for Photoshop. It doesn't work with the plugin. I contacted RW support about that and basically got blown off. Apparently they're not really into software less than 8 years old.

I tried the DDS Converter utility to turn .dds into .png or .tif, but it can't abstract the grid, so the imported texture file is a mess.

Any suggestions on how I can achieve a working process? I'd really like to crank out some liveries for the GP38-2 I just bought.

Several of the following utilities on Martin Wright's page should help, especially TView:

http://www.mwgfx.co.uk/graphix.htm

Install, browse to the folder where the original texture lies, select the texture needed, and then export to the desired format. :D
Cheers!

I tried DXTBmp. It seems good except when I save it doesn't seem to work.

When I click "Save Extended Image" and choose DXT3, it still saves as a .bmp. Shouldn't it save as a .dds?

When you click on file the third thing down is save as. The top choice should be DDS. Then the first time it should give you several choices as to DDX.
