"Kicking" Cars

Unread postby GP15Dash1 » Fri May 30, 2014 10:25 am

Has anyone been successful in "kicking" cars? If so, can you share your technique?

I've tried it a couple of times and apparently didn't have enough train brake applied, because the car slowed more quickly than the train and just recoupled.

I beleive you can not as when the car is uncoupled it's brakes go on.

Thanks, Bob.

That's what I was afraid of, based on my attempts. Oh, well!

even if the brakes never came on it wouldn't work anyway, once a piece of rolling stock is a certain distance away from the players consist the game basically "shuts it off" in a way so that it doesn't move

There's 2 ways I "kick".

1: Apply the independent brake and uncouple. (this only works with 1-2 cars)
2: Put the reverser into the opposite direction you're going and put it into the 1st notch (this would wear down the traction motors in real life so it's not very realistic).

Just curious, but does this eliminate hump yard ops as well? I tried building one and thought maybe I just didn't have it set up right.
