Missed that, sorry. Had a couple of commissions so no recent work, I'd nearly got something reasonable when I had to stop though. The boxcars are easy ( the 40' one is done as far as I can tell, I've forgotten :p ), the autonumber thingy is working, it just looks a bit odd.

After a lot of rework, I believe this is a lot better Blomberg B truck/bogie texture for the Britkits F7/9 and GP9 (the FT and F3 use solid journals):

The holes, cylinders, bearings, and springs all map right into place on the 3d model.

What do you think?

Is someone willing if permitted to repaint the slug, matching the collection GP9's? Including
the Rock-rusty and the R&WA-GP9?
Like to use them in steelworks and coalmines.

I dunno, Mike, they just kinda look "flat" I mean all your other bogies have a nice 3D feel, these kinda look like a 2D cartoon. Maybe it's just me. No gloss to them, just flat.

Ton, it's always the best to contact the creator of the rolling stock you want to repaint (or sometimes the readme file will say) about repainting anything. 99% of the time, if it's freeware, it's OK to do what ever you want. But it never hurts to contact the creator. I'd love to see a few UP or BNSF "slugs" in game. !!*ok*!!

As it turns out, there's an artifact in the bogies, created when they are shaped. It makes using anything but the default skin a moot point, as they have to be as dark as the artifact.

Anyway, soon to come, an A-B-B-A Northern Pacific set.

The slug is part of the Britkits Steelworks set is it not?

It's because they don't have any shadows, or even any variation in light levels - when you're doing pseudo-3d you tend to use dark for "down", and lighter colours for "up". Those are all the same shade, so they look the same depth all over.

Oddly enough, they are 3D if you look at them from an angle, the cylinders are external. the springs are inside the body and project out. The bearing caps have the correct shapes and stick out as they should. Mr. Cowen did a great job on the 3D map for these, that's hidden by the dark skin that's the default. I see what you mean about the shadows, and I'd work more on it if it wasn't a waste of time as they can't be used.

It's kinda like that game Borderlands to me. Just flat, kinda cartoonish. Now, don't get me wrong here, Mike. Your work is fantastic. Just something not right with those bogies. I have most if not all of your repaints (you need to start modeling) !*salute*!

As far as I'm concerned, I can't even grasp this stuff, you guys are wizards. **!!bow!!**

I have absolutely no idea how to repaint. And no intention to. But there are so many repaints
of engines ( GP7-GP9-SW1500) is the slug not possible?

Yes Ton it is possible, if we knew where it comes from. Where did you find it?

It's in the steelworks set of Brittkits. I was not aware of problems by repainting.
Sorry for not understanding that. Was just an idea for all that rusty engines.

Thanks for the replys
