Does it matter that the model itself can only handle four digits max?

I presume you deactivated the model's numbering ( there's a script option for that ) - in which case, you can make the numbers as long or short as you like. I presume you need a 4 digit panel?

Actually you can make the number as long as you like anyway even if you're only using the original model, just have to pass it the right part of your bigger number.

I will try to use a five digit number first. I added the ability to 'x' out digits when experimenting with another paint scheme. I'll be back on later with my results.

More Progress. This new auto numbering script is awesome. Now I need to make textures for 'S' and 'P' to use with the auto number above the door.

And, YES, for you repainting purists out there, I will have a dirty version. Just remember that they started out clean *!!wink!!* :

I have plans for it, but first I want to do 1741 and 1776 (both of which I started months ago).

The devil is in the details... and I am on FIRE!

Image

Yes, I added a vent (but did you notice the auto numbers over the door?). You may think me silly, but its these small details that will differnentiate the SP bay window from ... well... the rest of them. !*YAAA*!

I still have a ways to go before I claim victory.

Does anyone have a night time picture of this caboose? I am interested if there was step lighting, or other lighting details.

Havent found a picture at night, but this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cf7Q9L6vGfA

Also I noticed that the top of the bay's appear they should be slightly slanted downward toward the edge of the car, not level (as it appears in your screenshots). Its possible it is, and just hard to see.

Thanks for the video Montana, from what I can tell there were no lights on in or around it. I'll release without any additional lights and make a v2 if I get new information about it.

There were several variations that SP used (square windows, round windows, red light over the door, single frog lens, double frog lens, etc...) unfortunately I am not the creator of the base model (BLLW is) so I will not be able to make all of these fine corrections. As I stated earlier in the thread I was disheartened that I could not make a faithful repaint of the SP model unless a few things were fixed. Once I got into using 3DCrafter this became possible, but only to add "jewelry". I think I am really close now to making a repaint that will be unmistakable as SP.

On a different note, I've been thinking about how I am going to "meet the train at Donner". I am running out of time for that, at least in the sense of make a few versions with weathering. If anyone with some skills in weathering, and can provide me with layers only (ie no need for text or logo just wear and tear), I would be more than happy to get some help. I can make my PSD file available. I will take care of packaging.

Just so you know, I'd have an interest in helping with weathering, but I don't own the payware base pack from BLLW. So I'm going to have to pass.
