I think that I can be officially adjudged insane...

Unread postby MadMike1024 » Sun Jan 08, 2012 3:12 am

I started to rework the really nice freeware Brindley GP7 to bring it up to TS2012 specs. I've eliminated the no longer needed ground shadow, and fixed it so that the Pike headlight beam doesn't show any more. I added TS2012 headlight beams, and day/night switched step lights. I've reworked all my repaints, and PapaXpress is making some special parts to super detail the Frisco 611.

Where I seem to have gone astray; I contacted GreatNortherner and asked if he'd mind if I moved all of his GP7 repaints forward onto the updated model (thinking there were 6 of them). He gave me permission to do so, and I started looking for his work. Uhhhhh... He did 11 total.

So, 5 for me (including the original default SAL), 11 for GreatNortherner, and Bill Platt did 10. I don't know how to get in touch with Bill, but I'd like to (or if you know how to reach him) ask him if he wants them moved ahead.

Bill had me remove all of his work from the RWA library and I think he moved over to UKTrainSim.

Bill and I parted on good terms when we last spoke about "balance". I will reach out to him and see if we can come to an arrangement.

Good news !*brav*! , we heard from Bill, and He's agreed to let us release all 8 of his PRR GP7s, and the two ATSF zebras. I have 14 done, plus 4 of my own. This is going to be a massive upload!

Bill Platt's PRR repaints on the HSC. Somehow I missed it, but there is a set of plain Brunswick greens as well.

It will take some work getting all the credits and docs done, but I should have this in the next several days.

Did PRR use GP7s in passenger service?

Sorry, I should have phrased my question better.
Did PRR assign GP7s to regular passenger service?
I'm asking because last night I happened to research PRR diesel liveries, and I read that it started using tuscan red for passenger diesels only, all other being standard DGLE.
Your pictures show a tuscan-red GP7, hence my question. Just curious.

Just wanted to drop in real fast to say that those PRR repaints are fictional.. There was never any with the GG1 like pinstripes and never any as far as I know in Tuscan.. When doing those repaints I was noticing a lot of gp7/gp9 liveries had some sort of sweeping pinstripe or line design starting at the nose.. So I decided to incorporate the GG1 lines into PRR paint and on a whim made a Tuscan version also.

It does look good on them. Pinstripes makes you look thinner, at least that's what the missus says, and she's shaped a little like a GP7.

I've finished up the work on these, and they are out for beta test. Once I've been assured the ears aren't where the tail should be, I'll upload them.

I'm holding the Frisco back for more detailing, as Papa is near getting a functioning rotary beacon.

Hi Micheal,

This is great news indeed! Thank you so much for doing this update and for including my repaints in it! These are some of my favorite engines in RW, and to have them in TS2012 glory now makes them even better.
**!!bow!!**

Cheers,
Michael
