Cool shots for detailed repainting

Unread postby PapaXpress » Mon Jul 25, 2011 1:46 pm

Just wanted to start a thread where we can share pictures of those "close up details" we can add to our repaints.

This is a good idea. I took a few shots on the weekend. I will add some in a bit.

Here are some shots I took back in 2010 from a week long trip across Pennsylvania and the mid-west. They're not the best "detail" shots, but better then nothing:
Warning: Big Pictures: 2,125px × 1,594px on most..

Interesting that you found a prototype shot containing the only two caboose models I did for MSTS.

This makes as much sence.
People only read signs when there's nothing else to look at. *!lol!*

CSX YN2 details (GP38-2, works for a SD40-2, any late model EMD- Note decal locations and decal type):

NS Sign idea. Got a NS office on your route? It's not complete without one of these. Spotted at the Raleigh, NC NS offices.

Got a big city on your route? Make sure people don't try to jump in front of your trains with one of these signs! Spotted on vacation in San Francisco by the Caltrain station.

Conrail Shared Assets operate track in North and South Jersey and Detroit, and it owned by both CSX and NS.

At the CR split in order to divide locomotives and rolling stock they bought back the PRR and NYC reporting marks (New York Central Lines LLC & Pennsylvania Lines LLC). Norfolk Southern got PRR and CSX got NYC. This also goes for rail lines. NS the former PRR in Pennsylvania and CSX the former NYC "Water Level Route" in NY. Both holding companies are now since absorbed by their respective owners.

That NS exercise sign is something else. *!lol!*

Good catch, and it could be done with any repaint, not just the forsaken SP.

Blimey. I'll have to have a go at that one day! will need to find something with large uncompressed textures though ( or at least very large ones ).

I like the way the trucks look almost clean :p
