Flashing Ditch Lights?

Unread postby OlPaint » Sat Jun 01, 2013 6:48 pm

I have been looking for a Mod to add a Loco Lights Enhancement for flashing ditch lights. Does anyone have one available?

I have been watching a number of YouTube vids lately with trains approaching from out of the night time glum. It appears that when the engineer blows the horn the ditch lights start alternately flashing. Is this common practice? Or does the engineer switch the ditch lights to flash to warn the populace of an approaching train when he blows for a road crossing?

You can only mod the lights if they have their own nodes... which most don't. Though you could add child light glows and control those... but then it depends if you have access to the LUA... which RSC is compiling into .out files.

so... it depends. *!greengrin!*

The ditchlights on CSX, NS and Amtrak engines, are triggered when the engineer pulls the horn lever all the way down. If you will notice, when the engineer quills the horn, the lights do not always turn on. Reason being is when the horn is quilled, the lever only goes down a short bit, therefore not tripping the flashing ditchlight switch. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the ditchlights revert to solid after a short period of time.

The ditch lights flash when the horn is blown on most if not all Amtrak, CSX, NS engines. Other roads (mostly commuter) also have this feature. The lights eventually stop after about 15 seconds or so, depending on the road and engine. As for the Genesis Series Engines, the ditch lights flash when the horn is blown, but the engineer has a switch that can turn them on or off. This operation is functional in RW. The switch is located here in the cab. It reads "CROSSING LIGHT" under the switch **!!2cents!!** .
