Colleagues,
I am looking for somebody to beta-test my RW conversion of Allen Norton's MSTS Alco HH660. I consider the model to be done (at least as far I can do it with my current knowledge of the sim), so all that's left to do is to see if there still any problems with it.
Known issues:
The engine has a very basic cabview (really ugly!) -- however, at this point I do not know yet how to build an animated cab, so that'll have to wait. I did set up the location of the engineer's head so that you don't really see any of the cab when looking forward.
Quirky physics: the engine runs fine, though I'm not sure if it does so prototypically. I used brake settings from the state-of-the-art MSTS eng/wag files, though I cannot tell whether RW interprets them in a similar fashion. The brakes are quite a lot less responsive now, as I do remember it from MSTS. I also set up the engine for a non-self lapping brake valve, not sure if this is the correct setup for an early diesel switcher.
The weak power and the low top speed are actually more or less prototypical! The HH600/660 had a max. speed of only 45 mph, and a power of 600/660 hp. That's not much! The point I am really not sure about is my try at editing the traction/speed/notch dcsv tables. This was sheer guesswork (based on actual data of the prototype.)
If you would like to test it, please send me a PM! If I don't know you it would be kind of you to tell me a bit of your background in the sim (how well do you know it?)
Thank you!
Cheers,
Michael
