Query for Some Asset Coding & Modelling for Kalamazoo

Unread postby PullmanCar » Mon Nov 18, 2024 5:09 pm

As the Kalamazoo route is progressing, there were 2 rolling stock projects that were in progress but have stopped due to issues relating with each, and my inability to do it myself.

First was a CN/GT wooden combine, as you may remember, someone here on RWA was porting Paul Charland's Canadian National/Grand Trunk/originally Canadian Northern wooden combine from MSTS into Railworks (with Mr Charland's permission), however real life intervened and he is now unable to finish the combine. The model work was done, and all that needs done now I am told is the "coding into game and texturing". It was kindly loaded into 3DC, and just needed textured and set up for Train Simulator; however that kind creator's software has since decided to cease operating, so the car continues to sit in limbo. There is a rotated .BLEND file that is oriented for importing; and a .3DS file that is not; plus the .dds texture files. These are all I have. I would love to get this car into the game, ported and updated. It was originally my hope to eventually see it altered into an additional version in earlier condition (with the toplight or gothic sash windows in place, rather than plated over as they were in the 1950s), but at this point I would be happy with it just in the as-presently modelled "as retired" condition. I would be happy to discuss funds via PM.

The other was a child object hood set (short and long) for the DieselWorks Baldwin AS-616 to convert the Tri-Mount Soo Line unit into the full height hood later version. (It was just increase the height of each hood to the top of the cab roof; with brake vents on the side of the hood; and if possible a second headlight like many units had, although I could make do with only 1 headlight like the Oregon & Northwestern No. 1).
Here is how the AS-616 presently appears

The desired effect would be something like this, a child for the long hood and short hood, which would extend them up to the cab roof, in line with the later AS units.

This is based upon the late era models, seen in this drawing for an export example.

I am aware it is not possible to remove existing details, hence why I changed the bell texture to invisible, and am willing to live with the bracket. Again, I am happy to discuss payment/funds for this work, via PM if someone here could do this work, to extend the hoods to full height with a new exhaust manifold on the top. I can edit the .bins to attach such; and move the exhaust. I just cannot model and export the hoods (it is a time issue, mainly).
Thank you all for your time, and I understand these are both fairly sizeable asks in the community, when it comes to modelling.

Cheers,
-Jacob
