Boxcar Issue

Unread postby TheKman » Thu Mar 18, 2021 8:28 pm

Just got my latest freight completed. I have a problem...... Car is visible in the preview editor of the blueprint editor, but invisible in the game. There are no transparent textures nor in any group custom fields or materiel custom fields under the properties tab in 3DC. I figure I messed up somewhere doing the blueprint, but I don't see anything missing or computed wrong in the blueprint data. Need a second pair of eyes to look at my .xml.

2 pics enclosed along with the .xml. First pic is the car in Sketchup and the second is the car in the blueprint preview window

I think this maybe a 3dc issue. A few of my groups I named somehow have be renamed with names associated with MSTS. Probably happened when I had 3dc run the create unique names portion while processing the .igs. Didn't check to make sure all looked OK. There are days at the age of 55 CRS hits me hard. Normally I would have checked everything.

The car is still invisible in the sim. I have clue what is wrong........ Regrouping it didn't work. Nothing stands out that I missed or did when doing the blueprint.

I'm not sure I'm on the right track but all of the xmls I have seen show a xml value here where you show Boxcar_16400.igs. It would normally show Boxcar_16400.xml. Could that be the problem?

Your bogie blueprints are in BK1\RailVehicles. Ensure that P\P is enabled in the asset browser for your test scenario. And ensure the bogies exist in the right folder.

Is the Blueprint Editor giving you any errors on export?

Hi Wayne. No errors on export. PP is enabled. Bogie folder...... Should be in the right place but I'll look at it again. With tests I did earlier this morning I think bad textures can be ruled along with a possible design flaw within the model. So either it's within the .XML or folders are no set up correctly. One item that caught my eye is I may have folder within a folder regarding the whole model. If TS behaves like MSTS when that happens, yeah the car won't show.

Buzz, I'll fine tooth comb the xml again to make sure it all reads correctly.

Thanks for the input Wayne and Buzz.

Yes, BPE would have given you an error if they were not correctly placed.

I still think bogie related since these files are ignored by the asset viewer mode.

What about the naming of the bogies and wheels. Do the part names in the mesh match the names mentioned in your bogie blueprints?

Back in business!! Folder within a folder and and a bad xml file for the front bogey. Redid the blueprint for the front bogie and fixed the order of the file tree. (did that first) Why it didn't show a error for that bogey till 10 minutes ago I don't know....... (maybe due to the folder within a folder quirk?)

Car tested everything looks OK but will do some more tests.
