Just FYI, here's the real deal with the Verde Canyon: http://www.verdecanyonrr.com/

Wish I had taken pictures, can't really find any that do it justice: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&suge ... a=N&tab=wi

If you ever go to Sedona/ Cottonwood/ Clarkdale, take that trip. It's just beautiful. Be sure and make reservations well ahead of time!

Yep, Jerome is a must see! Houses and buildings hanging off the side of the hill! Don't forget, if you go there, there is still an actual mine off a dirt road (no, you can't go down into the mine) then that old abandoned hotel up on the other side of the mountain. The road up thru Jerome and over Mingus mountain closes in the winter (that's the short cut to Prescott) due to snow or ice. It's a twisty 2 lane road with a lot of sheer drop off's.

My goal in two years is to move back to Cottonwood (was born in Phoenix) I'm so tired of Southern California, you can't imagine. I know the Verde Valley like the back of my hand. Gonna visit Mom over in Cottonwood next month. !!*ok*!!

Stop by the railroad office and thank the folks for letting me use their logos. They were very nice to work with. The lady I first e-mailed thought she was looking at a picture of one of their locomotives! !*YAAA*!

One big reason I need to get out of here, every time I go "home" the hospitality and just plain friendliness is a world apart. Plus, the countryside is absolutely beautiful. Until you see Sedona or Red Rocks Canyon, you haven't seen the American South West. !!*ok*!!
