RWA repaint... SP Box Car

Unread postby PapaXpress » Thu Apr 07, 2011 1:59 am

This one was fun, and now that I am getting the hang of it, it only took me 5 hours.

Up next is to make the hydra-cushion graphic, then I will hit the books and see if there were any rare single door 50' wagons that might look interesting.

When I am done re skinning all the base RWA models to SP then I will release them as a complete package. I also plan on doing a Cotton Belt set, as the are pretty much the same except for the font they used.

Very nice.
To release this all in one pack is a very good idea.

So you've gotten into the repaint thing really fast.
I think I know now who I can ask when the tome has come to learn to repaint myself. *!!wink!!*

Thanks.

The wife still insists that I am making them too red. She made quite a point of it from my books, and I will have to admit that she is correct.

The flatbed turns out will be the simplest to change, and I was almost done with it last night. Then I will have four left. I think I will start the NW2 next. There are two common schemes with the NW2. The Bloody Nose, and the Tiger Stripe. I need the later for my route in Niles Canyon, as they are using one there today.

Ugh...

OK, so with some help from Mike I found yet another Tuscan Red. This looks less red. Lets see if I can persuade PS to match it.

That looks like it fits better than the other red. It does fit with the worn and bleached look.

I tend to get fed up trying to match colours perfectly and just spray dirt all over the place :)

After I posted that screenie I remembered some advice from one of my other threads where it was recomended that I add an adjustment layer with -25% brightness. I did this and it looks even better.

I am working on the Hyrda-Cushion decals now. Will have a new shot this weekend.

Here is an update. I am not happy with how the 'Hydra-Cushion' logo came out. Unless someone can throw some ideas at me, I will need to wait until I have a smooth side box car (something SP had tons of anyway) to do this.
