Anyone get the "2.xx Blender exporter" working?

Unread postby hminky » Mon Nov 18, 2013 2:05 pm

I can't get the "Blender 2.6x Train Simulator 20xx export" to work. I keep getting:

"IGSExpModFile2.txt" can't be found or is empty in the "console window"

That is using the example supplied in the download.

I can get the old "Bigex" example working with Blender 2.49.

That example gets the same message "file not found" in Blender 2.63

The manual doesn't have a simplified explanation of anything.

Isn't that self-explanatory?
Check that the file is indeed not empty and present in the correct folder according to the installation instructions.
Check that the folder is not, actually, a zip file.
Hopefully you are not running Blender out of c:\Program Files.

I am using the examples supplied which have the files.

As I said the "BixEx" example works in 2.49 but gets the "txt error" in later versions.

EDIT: Can't export to another directory, ARRRRGH!!

Got it working

Got a "simplebox" from the Simplebox tutorial in the game using Blender 2.69:

Simple box tutorial at:

Blender has come a long way from 2.48, just have to hunt for stuff.

I am using Blender 2.71 and Bigex 2.1.71.
I have just managed to export a static scenery object to TS-2015.
My biggest issue is how to set up shader slots for the group of TS-20xx specific textures.
I finally fudged them into my project by importing an object from the demonstration file and then using that shader in my own objects.

One baffling point was the error for not finding the .ace files in the texture sub directory. The exporter was looking in the scenery/clutter folder. I placed a copy of all of the ace files in that folder and the exporter was happy. the BlueprintEditor2 found the same ace files in the texture folder so it too was happy.

So anyone have some hints on how to place the shader slots in my material in Blender 2.71.

.......

Do you mean Blender 2.6x IA/IGS Exporter (v1.47 is the latest release). This should not be confused with Bigex, which is for Blender 2.49 or earlier and by a different author.

Blender 2.6x IA/IGS Exporter is available here: http://www.uktrainsim.com/filelib-info.php?form_fileid=29522 or here: http://www.railsim-fr.com/forum/index.php?s=cc8177552aee237da8cccb0a2d3ccef9&app=downloads&showfile=263

Section 5.1 of the Blender 2.6x IA/IGS Exporter manual explains the use of the shader and texture slots.

To set the correct path for textures, open 'User Preferences' in Blender then click the 'File' tab at the top right of the box. Make sure 'Relative Paths' is checked. Then as long as the folder where your textures are located is named Textures, the exporter will be able to find them. If there is still a problem, click the 'File' menu and scroll down to 'External Data' and click 'Make All Paths Relative'. (Your project must be saved in order for this to work.)

Hope this helps.

Blender 2.6x IA/IGS Exporter (v1.47 is the latest release)

In my searches I have collected both exporters. I happened to try the Bigex first and eventually made it work. I will try the Blender 2.6x IA/IGS Exporter next and see if it is easier to dot all the i's and cross all the t's so to speak.
Thanks for the help. I suspected there was a path set incorrectly, but didn't know where to look.
