For what it's worth I was just working on a re-paint and was on the Peace River route and the headlight doesn't show through the bridge by the station anyway.

No light leaking through this bridge on Marias Pass.

Just ran over the bridge that started the whole light shining through the bridge................... Running the RSC F7 on this route and guess what? No light shining through the bridge.....................

And yes this loco casts light and shadows.

I regret, I must have used the wrong loco in my last post :
viewtopic.php?f=87&t=24801&p=278155#p278155

This prompted me to carry out more detailed tests with the ES44DC from MariasPass:

1. the original loco from steam results in shine on the pillars. All lights do not cast shadows:
ori_RSC_20231130165925.jpg

2. All lights in the children section of the loco's blueprint are eliminated:
no_childs_20231130175318.jpg

The headlights themselves are simple textures which do not emit anything !
This is standard in TS.

Then I have made all lights casting shadows with only one exception :

3. Only Ditchlights do not cast shadows:
Ditchlights_20231130180815.jpg

4. Only the main headlight does not cast shadows:
MainHL_no_shadow_20231130181022.jpg

5. Only the steplights do not cast shadows :
Stepslights_20231130171837.jpg

When these three lights, ditchlights, main headlights and steplights cast shadow then you won't see any shine on the pillars !
The usage of casting shadows with the stepslights is not necessary, a reduction in the range will do it's job and saves some performance.

So far without any shadows casting I have got ~80 fps while driving.
With ditchlights + main headlights casting shadows I get 30-40 fps in WQHD (2540x1440).

Then I have made 2 variations of the headlights.
These do not work with the GEVO soundpatches by SearchlightSimulations, only with locos from steam.

1st version "soft" with colors similar to RSC, but not so hard.

2nd version "yellow" with colors resembling the GEVO package with the lights' textures a bit darker:

My patches may be used with :
Assets\DTG\ES44AC_BNSF\
Assets\RSC\MariasPass\
Assets\VNHRR\HiLine\
Assets\RSC\ES44AC_Pack01_CSX_YN3\
Assets\RSC\ES44BNSFPack0\

Please read the included file info.txt
The latter 2 packages cannot be simply copied with the directory-structure in the zip-file.

Hi,

Nice detective work, Kris! !!det!! !*cheers*!

It doesn't surprise me that the original Marias Pass ES44 had shadow casting disabled on all lights. Shadow casting lights cause a massive frame drop in TSC even on modern PCs so they probably made the game unplayable back when the route was released.

Cheers,
Michael
