I regret, I must have used the wrong loco in my last post :
viewtopic.php?f=87&t=24801&p=278155#p278155This prompted me to carry out more detailed tests with the ES44DC from MariasPass:
1. the original loco from steam results in shine on the pillars. All lights do not cast shadows:

2. All lights in the children section of the loco's blueprint are eliminated:

The headlights themselves are simple textures which do not emit anything !
This is standard in TS.
Then I have made all lights casting shadows with only one exception :
3. Only Ditchlights do not cast shadows:

4. Only the main headlight does not cast shadows:

5. Only the steplights do not cast shadows :

When these three lights, ditchlights, main headlights and steplights cast shadow then you won't see any shine on the pillars !
The usage of casting shadows with the stepslights is not necessary, a reduction in the range will do it's job and saves some performance.
So far without any shadows casting I have got ~80 fps while driving.
With ditchlights + main headlights casting shadows I get 30-40 fps in WQHD (2540x1440).
