Cajon Pass

Cajon Pass

Unread postby JohnT » Thu May 27, 2021 11:39 pm

Hi all,
got a 2 problems with this route. One no matter which scenario I pick. The track doesn't show. i have tried re-instating a backed up version of the route, no change. Tried copying and pasting a version from my Win10 compuer onto this win 7 version, no change. Tried using the steam library uninstall re-install no change now out of ideas. Also cannot provide a screenshot as,althoughI get confirmation one has been taken. Can I find it, no chance looked everywhere. Repeatably re asigned the the screenshot folder on the Steam settings, but no show of taken shots.
Not having a good day, where is the track .bin for a route to be found?

Look for your screenshots in C: Program Files (x86)\Steam\UserData\97555375\760\remote\24010\screenshots
This is where screenshots are stored when using the camera icon in the HUD. Screenshots taken with F12 key can be changed to where you want them to be. The camera icon will remove the HUD from the screenshot the F12 screenshot does not.
As to missing track are your density sliders maximized?

Hi,
thanks AS for the pointers. But I could not see the folder you mentioned and my installation is on D:. However checked all drives still no show. Carried on looking into every directory, as being assured a screenshot had been achieved.
To cut a long story short I eventually found them here: D:/Steam/userdata/30865959/760/remote/24010/sscreenshots.
No ideas as to why they are there.
Maybe the brains on the forum can suggest reasons for this.
Regarding scenery density mine is set as "High" and I dont have this problem with any other route.

Hi all,
Having sorted out to some extent screenshot capture. Find below attachments of difference between Marias Pass and Cajon Pass, with exactly same Railworks settings.

You shouldn't have to do anything with it just wanted to check and make sure it was there. The tracks bin is Content\Routes\76b3af0-blah blah blah\Networks

Also you want to check and see that Assets\Kuju\RailsimulatorUS\RailNetwork\trackrules is there and should contain:

Hi,
still struggling with this. Was asked on UKTS forum to check content/cajon route/Networks to see what files were in that folder.I checked the folder and had all the files as mentioned , excepting a couple of .xml files. But just as a check renamed that folder by adding "ORIG" to its name then pasting a backup copy into the directory. On running the game exactly the same problem appeared. So re-instatedto as found status.
Did the same procedure with the Assets\Cajon folder with the same results as above.
Find below attachment of folders that you mention above.

I don't know if those missing xml files mean anything but try this. First line in the tracks bin describing tracks is " <BlueprintID d:type="cDeltaString">railnetwork\trackrules\sanb_bars_ mainline.xml</BlueprintID>"

Hi Buzz,
Just prior to coming to this forum, I have been checking replys on the UKTS Forum.
Find below my latest posting on that forum :-

Hi all,
Eureka, goes to show kick a thing around long enough and eventually something will give. Many ,many thanks August you flagged up the lead to the solution.
As I mentioned earlier I had, via Steam in the library deselected the Cajon Pass route, which I have had since Oct24 2009. Then after a shortish delay reselected the DLC. On the assumption I was getting a clean re-install, pressed ahead with all the jiggory pokey trial and error swaps and mods to sort out the problem. Here's where sods law comes into play, due to my abbreviated Assets/Cajon info which should have read Assets/RSC/Cajon, wherein I was fishing for anything to try and swap to get the thing working.
Your info "If so, it should be Assets/Kuju/RailsimulatorUS/RailsimulatorUSAssets (this last a .ap file)" had me checking. I knew that Steam only update .ap files and as I thought I'd re-installed the route, how come I did'nt have a new .ap file.
Final move made was to copy the .ap file from my Win10 computer - rename the existing RailworksAssets/Kuju/RailsimulatorUS/ RailNetwork folder on my win7 mc with the addition ORIG. Paste the copied .ap file into the same same folder.
Started up railsimulator selected Cajon and lo and behold I have rails to run on.
Been a hard slog but thanks to August and Gary and others, think the problem now resolved - moral of the story seems to be when in doubt fall back to the .ap or ensure you have the relevant one.

Thanks for the responses to my problem, much appreciated.

Regards JohnT
