Unread postby o0nightfire0o » Sun Aug 01, 2021 12:25 pm

so i was wondering, where in a locos files is the QD categories? like if i select north america, not all of them are there and if you select other, then tons of locos are there. what do i need to change to fix it or what do i have to add? im assuming its some lines in the locos .bin file.

I suspect but not sure that QD might be looking at this Route Template bin for what locos it's loading but as I said not sure of that.

That's not a loco bin it's a route bin. I'm thinking that assets that are in a route determine whether they show up depending on the categories listed here. To answer the question about editing them using TSTools or RWTools the answer is yes.

With locomotives, the QD comes from the Preload folder.

The actual list is determined by both metadata.bin files (when correctly defined) and its subordinate consist.bin files (when present), a correct listing only works when the metadata.bin points to the right consist.bin files. A metadata.bin file is not necessary, only consist.bin files are required.

When you carefully edit both metadata.bin and consist.bin files, you can get a nice list sorted by locomotive name/type, with a sublisting by roadname. Perhaps you want to prefix the roadname with the [DLC] to differentiate between locos having different features?

I have 3 installs, in my USA install there are no QD files, nor any locomotives in the Asset folders, that are NOT from the USA. LIkewise, UK install only has UK locomotives, Europe only has DB, SCNF, NS and other European railways.

i had it like that, but went back to only one install when space was a problem, i might go back to that way, but man its a pain to take out locos since theres not an easy way of doing it, but it would be easier than editing so many files.

In Provider\Product\PreLoad (this is a requirement, otherwise the files I am talking about may be in any folder below of PreLod)
there may be 3 types of files:

- files for fragments, which are arrangements of wagons or locos or a whole train. These cannot be driven directly and do not show up in the menu of the TS.

- files for consists, these may load the same as fragments (wagons, locos, a train), but these can load fragments, too.
The difference to fragments: They may show up in the menu of the TS when the flag "driveable" is set and at least one loco is included.
These consist show up as AI when the ID of the route is included, the era (year) fits to the quickdrive scenario and the type of the consist in the quickdrive scenario and the consist are the same.
Electric locos can only drive when the flag "electric" in the quickdrive scenario is set and there is electricity from the start point to the destination without any interruption. Diesel and steam locos may drive everywhere.

- metadata files: They just can organize the type of loco (better ': they can change the name of the loco, e.g. from "ES44DC BNSF" in the consist to "ES44DC" in the menu via the entry "GroupDisplayName"). You can sort the locos and trains with this method.
Then metadata files can bind a type of loco to a region (USA, Switzerland, ...) in the TS menu when you follow "Profile/ Locos/" and look for regular scenarios (or carreer scenarios only, sorry, I do not use this !). The entries regarding the regions do not have any influence on whether a loco or train shows up as AI in a route or can be driven in a scecial route.

I hope I have presented this in an understandable way.
