Using Invisible Platform Overlays

Using Invisible Platform Overlays

Unread postby tntrainer » Thu Jun 24, 2021 5:43 pm

Hello Friends,

Was wondering if it is possible to use an invisible overlay to create walking pedestrians on a sidewalk, unrelated to a station platform and the required triggers that spawn the people when a train arrives to load or unload. I want to create the look of people just walking along a side walk in my route. I have placed the overlays in my route but they don't spawn the people like the automobile traffic overlays I use.

Also are there any good pay ware people/pedestrian add-ons out there other than those included with the usual routes from DTG etc?

Any suggestions appreciated.

As far as I know there aren't really any triggers necessarily, usually the people just spawn on their own, but yes it is very much possible to create lively sidewalks, and it is something I want to implement into my own routes, just place the platform using the offset tool like a normal platform loft.

As far as the people go, other than perhaps some third party routes with custom passengers, I don't know of a specific pack.

Thank You TheR62Fan,

Since I want the pedestrian traffic on a brick pathway, couldn't I simply overlay the Invisible Platform directly over the brick pathway? It would get adjusted in the normal way to have the people walking at the right height and around objects. I tried that with the usual platform gate entry and exit and never got a spawn. I would definitely use the offset tool if I were adjacent to a track. Still learning all the nuances of the route editor and have watched some tutorials too.

Perhaps I'm missing something in the settings for the path in the density settings. See my attached pic of the overlay and I also attached a screenshot of my sidewalk, in a transportation museum I'm creating, that I want to overlay.

Further thoughts?

Thanks again
