Hi John

yes seems to be ok, the readme talks about .Net 4.5. There should be a file "debug.log" besides the locoswap executable present in the directory. Maybe something useful is noted there? Might be that this only a debug logfile fo the swapping process itself - but sadly dodo seems to be very busy currently, I think he might have more knowledge what's going wrong. I have not a machine running on Win 7, if I find time I might setup a VM and see if the issue is related to Windows 7, it is only mentioned that you need the .Net Runtime for Windows versions other than Windows 10, but no information if Windows 7 is definitely supported or has been tested.

Also, previous versions of the tool are availabe, may one of these works?

https://github.com/dodo0822/LocoSwap/releases

Kind regards

Thorsten

OK,
thanks for the response. I'll continue with TSTools and check back here to see ifthere is any further info.
As for this comment "There should be a file "debug.log" besides the locoswap executable present in the directory." As I cannot get it to install the program by clicking on the LocoSwap.exe contained in the 7zip archive (see attachment) which directory should I look in?

Hi John

there is no classic installation for this program, ypu only have to copy the contents of the archive to a directory of your choice. If you click it in, while it stayx in the archive, it likely won't run - maybe this is the reason for the message you receive? The debug.log will show up in the driectory you extracted the files to, it is not contained in the 7-AZip archive.

When I click the replace button the LocoSwap closes with no error or swapping of stock. I'm running version 1.0.3.3. I attached the debug file maybe that will help. Also, my RailWorks install is not in the default location if that matters. Seems like a great easy tool to use. Thank you for creating this.

debug.log

thank you
John

@ JohnT, glad you got it working now :D

@ JohnS, I reviewed the log and can only asume what the problem is, since I am not the creator. It seems that maybe the waggons of the consist are not recognized the way they should. BigBoy is identified as engine (two parts and tender), but for the waggons there is no entry in the log.

Did you or can you try another consist to verify it it does not work at all, or only with this consist? May I ask which waggon(s) you are trying to swap, so if I own it I'll give it a try and see if same problem exists for me.
The tool had also problems with tenders until Version 1.0.3.2, as it is still (hopefully) under development the author may look into it an address it. He has not benn around in German forum for some time, maybe he is busy with studies or so - but hope he did not stop working on it *!sad!*

Thanks and regards

It does work just fine. It doesn't seem to work with locomotives that have more than one part to it for some reason. Like the Big Boy and the Challenger steam engines. It will swap steam locomotives and the tender just fine as long as it's not it multiple pieces. Also noticed that once the Player loco is swapped that the scenario loading screen doesn't use the changes. It still has the original locomotive labeled so you have to remember what scenario you edited and what locomotives you used for the player when selecting the scenario from the railworks menu. It works great and is an easy tool to use.

That's because the program does not update the scenario database. Ditto with RW-Tools.
When you swap manually in the DTG scenario editor, the database is updated.

One way to force this is to delete the scenario database before playing, but then you'd lose all your green tick marks.

That's right! I forgot about deleting that file. Thank you Chacal. I bet if I open the edited scenario in the DTG editor and do something and undo it then save it should update the data base.

I usually in the DTG scenario editor the right window, put a dot after the title or the author, and then save.

Hello, LocoSwap updates the name and picture of the driven engine in scenarioporperties.xml since Version 1.0.1.0, but this is applied after a restart of the game only.

At least for me I can confirm that this is working.

JohnS - good finding that it is related to engines consisting of two (or more) parts. The Swiss Crocodile Ce 6/8 consists even of three parts !*hp*!
Am not really sure if TS Tools can handle this? Sure Dodo could fix it.
