quickdrive scenario start marker direction

Unread postby gwgardner » Wed Oct 02, 2013 4:54 pm

In using the 'player_spawn_marker' for setting up a quickdrive scenario start point, I cannot figure out how to change the direction of placement of the consist. Can anyone advise on this?

Hold the ctrl key down and left click the sensor. or maybe it is the shift key. try both

On the crossing gates if you clicked the little box on the link it changed directions. Try that.

Took like 10 tries, but the shift-click finally worked. Thx for the suggestions.

just so you know quick drive options in world editor don't work. unless your using 3 party add ons to make it work.

Yet another reason why RSC should provide an update to the 2010 edition of the "Timetable Editor" manual!

You do not make a route Quick Drive by doing anything in the world editor. To make it quick drive you need to make Quick Drive Scenarios.

ah ok. well I try that like I made a quick drive Quick Drive Scenarios and have players spawn makers place in areas of my route for testing. then pick markers for list of area to go to and save it. then look at quick drive list for my route and nothing. it doesn't show up on list.

I successfully made the Cimarron & Pacific route quickdrive. All I did was create the preload folder, create the route metadata file in that folder, and then create a quickdrive scenario in the scenario editor. Worked like a charm. See the recent thread here in the forum on making a route quickdrive, with a link to a tutorial on that. Most of the steps in the tutorial are not needed in TS2014, but it is very informative.

I have been able to make a couple of my routes quick drive. However I have a couple of questions.

I find it hard to get the Player Spawn Marker flyout to appear. Is there a trick to getting it to show?

Also, I have placed an AI Spawn Marker and a Consist Spawn Marker in one of my Quick Drive Scenarios, but could not get the flyout to appear for either one of those. I see where they are included in my ScenarioNetworkProperties.bin so they would be editable if I knew what to put in the fields. To that effort, I took a look at some RCS Quick Drive ScenarioNetworkProperties.bin files, and discovered that neither the AI or the Consist Spawn Markers are included in the file. Maybe those functions don't work (yet).

This is the kind of material that cries out for an Engine Driver tutorial! RSC apparently isn't interested in issuing an update to the scenario writers manual, so it's up to us, evidently.
