Freeroam question

Is there a way to pick another engine to drive in freeroam after you've already started to drive your first engine?
I've tried clicking on another engine but it won't let me switch to it. The little hand icon won't show.
So I'm not sure if this is possible or if I'm not doing something correct.
Thanks.

You can but you need to add driver icon the locomotive. Then you can switch trains in free roam.

CSX2057 is correct, but if you already know about the driver icon or are talking about preexisting free roams like in Cajon Pass and Horseshoe Curve, then the answer is to use the head out view and click on another loco from that view.
If the loco isn't within view from a head out view, then click to head out, then to free roaming camera, and then fly to the engine or train.
Many people don't know that you can also click on any part of the train that a loco is connected to as well. IE, if you stop in a yard in free roam and want to select another train going back the other way, you can simply click on the back end of the train you want. You don't have to click on just the engine.

None of this is explained in the Train Simulator manuals, so if a person didn't know any of this, don't feel like a dummy. I learned strictly by trial and error. :D

I think the important point from Eric's post above is that you must be in an external view in order to choose another train; it will not work if you are inside the cab of the train you are currently driving

Either way but you don't need to stick your head out the window to switch you can do from inside the cab too.

Thanks, this worked for me consistently. I have to do it in the order you describe, first go to head out view then fly to the engine/train I want to make active, works every time. I can't switch to another train through the cab view. Sometimes I'm able to switch trains from the external front camera view but not always.

I'm trying to add my steamers to Sherman Hill free roam but I can't seem to get them where you pick the consist or locomotive. The only locomotives that come up are the Sherman Hill locos that come with Sherman Hill.Anyone know's what to do? !*don-know!*

Watch the first part of this video to see how to enable a package (such as the FEF-3 package shown here) so that you can then select locos and other vehicles that come with that package.
