Scenario

Unread postby CSX2057 » Sun Feb 17, 2013 7:45 pm

I'm about to get started making my scenarios. But, I got a question about the rolling stocks and diesels. When I add the rolling stocks and I may have different ones than you guys have, maybe you have the same as I do idk. What or How do I need to add in the readme? I have so many!

In the readme, you should:
1- Explain the scenario. Context, history, any interesting information.
2- List the payware assets that are needed. For each one, give a precise name and a link. Try to be precise as to what is needed.. For example, if you use only one coal hopper from one of GreatNortherner's freight pack, say so.
3- List the freeware assets that are needed. For each one, give a precise name and a link. For assets in the RWA library, the search name is good.
4- If you can, suggest possible replacements from default stock.

The best way to do this is to write the readme as you create the scenario. Every time you add a new asset in the scenario, write it in the readme.

RW_Tools can list all assets used in a scenario. Or you could open the flyout and take note of everything you have ticked.

I'm checking it right now. Hopefully I'll find who created from and list I can use. RW tools is really helpful.

Yes, it is a useful tool for the scenario writer, but the list it produces is of limited use to the player who has to find and download the assets. That's why I insisted about precise names, file names, etc.
Also it is important to say what is payware and what is freeware.
I have had a lot of frustration trying to assemble the required assets for running some scenarios.
Have a look at GreatNortherner's readme files, they are a good model to follow.

I can be able to tell which is free and which is payware from the utilities list and my files, these round trips I'm testing, in the yards for the freight do you guys want to DC locos from the cars, go reverse, and connect to another cars? for 1 whole scenario or do you want to switch trains like changing crews to split into 2 parts? It doesn't to me, its for you guys how you want to enjoy the scenarios.

Personally I like to see ones that are 60-80 minutes long. Shorter is OK sometimes but my attention seems to wander much over a hour. I suppose that is personal preference. I am interested what others think. *!question!*

Ok I got some Good News and Some Bad News.

So I'll start off with the bad news:
I'm testing the trains in Castle Rock Railroad and I tried 2 freight trains to drop off and pick up others cars on the same yard to head back to the yard they started and that didn't work. !*not-ok*!

So the good news is I can test run to bring both trains to their final destination End part 1, Start part 2 for crew change and you head back from where you started. Its the only way to get it to work. !!*ok*!!

Gonna try out the NEC when I buy it. Using Acela is not going to be so bad especially with the Commuter I'm gonna use !!*ok*!!

I have a question. If it as a free scenario using free assets, can you package the free rolling stock items used in the scenario, with the scenario? That would be a lot easier than running around here and there to find the required assets.

Yes you can. It's only assets from either RSC payware packages or from other third party payware assets that are prohibited. Anything that was either part of the original program or freeware from the community are allowed to be packaged for use.

Anyone feel free to correct me if this isn't correct.

The original program is now monetized (US and UK Kuju) and there is very little if anything which is cloneable from the RailworksCore folder. This is one reason we created RCAP.

The rest is true. The GTrax passenger and double stack cars are now free, some of the Britkits and Golden Age of Railroad models are free, and RCAP. Please see the respective sites to make sure you abide by their licenses (even if its free).
