Start location in a new scenario

Unread postby LionelDave » Fri Jul 20, 2012 6:28 pm

I'm trying to learn how to create a new scenario (It doesn't matter which type) because they all ask for a starting location and there is a drop down list from which you can select a starting location but most new scenarios don't have any locations in the list (or very few).

My question is this: What determines what a starting location is and why isn't there more of them in the list??

I know you can plug the coordinate in and they will work but it seem like its pretty hard to find the coordinatres of a location you want to use.

I must be overlooking a easy way to find the starting location. any help will be greatly appricated.

Thanks
Dave

You are better off going into the scenario editor of any scenario on the route you want to do the scenario on and go to where you want to start the scenario. then in the middle flyout on the left side click on the orange engine looking thing and then choose the type of scenario you want. move the curser to the spot you want and click. tell it no to saving the current scenario and there you go.

There are two tutorials stickied here on RWA, and one on my blog which may help you.

Thanks for the information. It's helpful in that I now know there is no easy way to get to where I want to start my scenario.

I'll look at your blog as soon as I get a chance. (It seems that week ends and me don't have much time for railworks *!lol!* )

Actually there is. Just go into the scenario editor like I stated before, then go into the 2d map (9 key), find where you want to go opn the map and while still in the map, hold the Ctrl key down and left click on the spot where you want to go. Then on the top of the screen in the middle (if you do not see anything there move your mouse there and a window will appear) you will see on the lower right hand side of the window that pops out there is an arrow that points to the right. Click that arrow and when you come out of the 2d map you will be where you wanted to be. You may be below the ground or in the air but you will be there. Hope this helps.

Thank you verry much. I seem to be one of those person who only learns by doing. Your step by step procedure really worked well for me.
