Getting lots of SBHH when editing a scenario ? See this.

Old news perhaps, but for those who dont know,

Just something to remember after the latest ( v11.0b ) patch came out.

Seems that:

1. Some reskinned engines / custom engines can be placed succesfully when creating a senario, and will run fine when you hit the play button...
2. Some reskinned cars/ custom cars can be placed succesfully when creating a senario, and will run fine when you hit the play button...

However, when you exit railworks and want to edit your created scenario, the scenario editor willl crash. The cause is ( not always ) most likely with the reskinned/custom content. Cant remember experiencing these issues before the v11.0b update..

Try making the same scenario again, placing only RSC default content, you can then edit the scenario after exiting railworks. ( most of the time )

More users encountering somewhat similar problems, see this post :

Sorry i forgot to mention, I can create scenarios with reskins, lots of them, its just that some of the engines/cars make editing after exiting RW impossible. Which one, now thats the question *!!wink!!*

I write scenarios for the NERW along with 5 other guys and all we use are NERW repaints and we do not have this problem you are talking about. When I do a scenario I run the basic course then go back and edit it several times adding AI, static consists and scenery items. No crashes. So I doubt repaints are the problem here. I have no clue what to tell though.

I second artmrj, I've been writing samples scenarios (standart and freeroam) using also repainted vehicles and didn't have yet this "extra and new" issue, hopefully, so far... maybe the problem is related to some especific vehicles, especially locomotives, as I posted yesterday in another thread.

Strange thing is. I can create scenarios using alot of the reskins, but some of them do make editing after exiting RW impossible. Question is, what car or engine is causing this problem ? Weird !*don-know!*

Strange but usual, unfortunately, every day I find myself fighting against a new unknow problem with that annoying thingy (Scenario Editor). AH! don't waste your time posting to RSC support, they will wish you a Merry Christmas (ooops *!embar*! that's the song that comes to my mind when I remember their answer-post to my problem)... in fact they will wish you the best luck with it (the problem). *!lol!* I would add the extreme patience with it, with them....

Can you package one of these scenarios up and email it to me and I will see if it crashes on my system for you?

So there is probably a flaw on some of the repaints only.

Sounds like issues with child objects.

Thank you for offering to help artimrj, i appreciate it. I deleted the scenarios when i found out they were "damaged" for further editing. I downloaded your reskins and have used them succesfully in scenarios on my route, so they are good to go ! !!*ok*!!

On a different note... Not sure if this has anything to do with the unstable scenario editor, but RSDerek announced that a patch to fix the slow lofts loading problem is in the works, no release date as of yet. Maybe that patch will atleast make the scenario editor a little more stable than it is in its current version.

Thanks again.

Every once in a while I will get a SBHH when editing a scenario, but I can't say that it is due to specific stock (custom or not). I have had the weirdest things happening to me while editing scenarios, including weather changes or even starting up different scenarios, even when I was sure that I started another scenario. In most cases a reboot fixed the issue. 'Machinist' called my system haunted ;-)

I found that going from playing to editing to playing to editing to playing... (you get the drift) will eventually cause memory issues, crashing RW3. If I break it up by using 'quit' it works better.

Hi Frank. I ended up using the same method you describe. The quit function seems to ' clear ' up some memory before before doing the next editing of a scenario.
