Those little colored boxes in the Assets list

Someone recently asked about how to use the three colored "boxes" in the Assets flyout. I found the following in another thread of this forum:

"Browser Favourites
"There are three new icons in the world editor showing stars on a coloured red, green or blue background. These are three separate favourite lists useful for sorting your most used assets during route creation so they can be grouped in one location.

"Right clicking on the name of an object in the browser list will save the object in the first favourites list, twice into the second, three into the third and a fourth click will clear it.

"Click the coloured favourite to display all the assets you have flagged as your favourites in this way. To totally clear a favourites list, right click on the icon."

These are really neat... when they work. Its been a bit of hit-and-miss as to when the editor will remember your selection between sessions.

If I remember right, this was an advertised new feature for RW3. I have found it very useful. But why did they release it,when it only holds memory for a session? I have actually resorted to keeping a scratch-pad to write down some objects so I can find them again. And while we are at it, I think objects should only highlight by category. What I mean is if you are working with linear objects (placing roads for example) only roads should be selectable when trying to reposition them. That would make it MUCH easier to manipulate objects that are close together. So many times I have to move an object way up in the sky, just to be able to select the close asset I want to adjust, because the selection tool snaps to it,instead.

It _can_ remember your settings between session. I have seen it work. I have also seen it forget, and SBHH when I select one of the left fly outs (very annoying), among other issues.

RSC really needs to implement bug fix releases set in two week intervals. If they clear out some of these small issues and make the app stable then they can taking on some of the bigger monsters lurking in the closet.
