Modifying an existing scenario

Hello all,

The manual states that the best way to get a feel for scenario creation is to modify an existing one first - (Words to that effect)

Normally to change any existing thing, whether it be a file or program or whatever, one would load it in, then save it out under a different name, and work on the copy, in case of any errors.

I want to change the engine on the San Bernadino to Barstow line, and after unlocking the scenario (and receiving a warning etc) I can't find any way to save it out under a new name. Being a newbie to this, I'm reluctant to make any chages on the original.

I'd appreciate if someone could assist.

Thanks in anticipation

Eddie

The easiest way to clone a scenario is to use RW_Tools.
You can find it at this site for a minor contribution:
http://www.rstools.info/index.html

Select the EDIT SCENARIOS option. Then select your scenario you want to clone. Edit it -- change the name -- and down in the lower left corner is an option to clone the scenario to new name.

You can even change the consists on this screen and substitude different rolling stock.

This is a must have for scenario/route builders.

Thank you very very much Dick, for your reply.

I'll certainly go to that site you put as a link, and download the program.

Once again, thank you very much.

Yes Mike's tools are a must have for Rail Simulator / RailWorks. There is a big discussion on UKTS about scenarios containing payware items and how that makes RW and the hobby expensive and I keep trying to point out that by using RW_Tools it doesn't matter what content is used in the scenario whether it is default, free or payware it can all be swapped out for content you do have installed if you want too.
