Turntables

I really loathe writing scenarios...

I have in progress a scenario on a short-line tourist railroad. At one end of the railroad is a Wye, at the other end is a turntable. When the tourist train gets to the end of the line, the locomotive is to drop it's passenger cars on the main track by the station, proceed to the turntable, get turned, run around the passenger cars via track 2, switch back to track 1, back up and couple to the other end of the passenger cars, then pull the train back to the other end of the line.

As you might have guessed by the title of this thread, i'm having trouble at the turntable. I click away at it when i see the cursor turn into a switch post, but nothing happens. Is there another command or keystroke for turntables?

I think it's the usual "G" respective "Shift+G". Not only if you approach.
As soon as you're on the turntable use "G" to turn it. Each time you press "G" means the turntable turns to the next exit. !*salute*!

I think "G" and "Shift G" work.

He he he he, "Ninja Post" Yep, it's G or SHIFT G. Most of the time, track will align correctly. Most of the time. !**duh*!!

Ahh, so it is like a turnout. I did get it to work and was able to turn the locomotive as desired. However, as usual, one problem solved leads to another. Now i cant recouple to the train to pull it back down the line, even with auto-coupling and the ctrl-shift-c combo. **!!bang!!**

I'm going to take a vacation before my head explodes! See you after the Tour de France!

Assuming that you're writing a Standard scenario, there is a trick to incorporating a 180° spin on a turntable. It should be obvious, but it isn't.

After the engine has turned around, be sure that you set up coupling and uncoupling instructions the right way. Check the 2D map to see which end of your engine is coupling to whatever it's coupling to.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for the info, i will give that try. In the mean time, i worked around the problem by throwing a caboose on the other end of the consist. The locomotive couples up just fine. Puzzling this why the loco will connect to the caboose but not the passenger car. Anyhoo, being that this is rr museum, having a caboose tagging along in the passenger consist would not be that far fetched because of it's nostalgia value.
