Scenery Objects only for that Scenario

Unread postby ironcat60 » Thu Jan 20, 2022 9:21 am

So I am wondering if it is possible to have Scenery Objects such as people and vehicles appear for only that scenario?

I like to populate the scenarios I get from the Workshop but it appears once you place the characters in a scenario they are there to stay.

For example: Marias Pass, "Leaving Cut Bank" then onto "Return to Cut Bank". Objects placed in the first scenario are in the same place in the follow on scenario.

Am I missing a setting to switch from Global to Local or something similar?

There's nothing special. Just be sure you are in scenario editor mode, eg 'Scenario Tools' is selected in the 'Tool Box'. You will have a subset of scenery items available to you for placement. When you save and exit the scenario, those scenery items will be placed in that scenario's folder and won't appear in any other.

Ah, I now understand what you are talking about after a little experiment. I never noticed that the last icon on the right in the top left fly-out menu was labeled "Scenario Tools" (explained in detail for those who may need this answer also). I sort of knew that you could access Clutter and People-Vehicle objects in that mode of operation before. Always thought that was just for accessing and placing engines and rolling stock.

Now I understand the concept of the "Tools Selection" at the top of that menu. "Scenario Tools" will place "minor" Scenario Specific items. Which is why selecting the other three icons in that fly-out menu such as Object Tools (buildings), Linear Objects Tools (Track-Road), Painting Tools (terrain texture and elevation) will take you out of "Scenario Tools" mode because those are "major" global changing items.

Thank you for the prompt and enlightening answer! "I see said the blind carpenter to his deaf son as he picked up the hammer and saw"
