Looking for someone to try out my first scenario

Unread postby ATSF3814 » Thu Apr 21, 2011 12:01 am

Well after mountains of confusing errors and plenty of this !*hp*! and this **!!bang!!** my very first scenario has reached the point that I think it's ready for others to try it. It takes place on the Eagle Ridge Route and you'll get a very big train to play with. But before I release it in the file library, I would like a couple of volunteers to try it out first so I can be sure all the bugs are worked out. Here are the assets you'll need:

PAYWARE

SD70 Volume 2 addon
CN SD40-2 Wide nose pack
US Wagons pack
Canadian National addon pack

FREEWARE

Double-Stack well cars by G-trax
Canadian National 4 bay cylindrical hoppers by Michael Stephan
CP Rail 4 bay cylindrical hoppers by Michael Stephan
Eagle Ridge Route by Marc Simpson
CP Rail and SOO Line SD40-2 repaints by Michael Zimmer
CP Rail ES44AC repaints by Scott Hoarty
Low-poly yard fillers by Michael Stephan
65ft. thrall bulkhead flatcarsl by Michael Stephan
65ft. mill gondolas by Michael Stephan
3 bay PS2 hoppers by Michael Stephan

The first two people who volunteer will get the job. Have fun and than you for your help! !!*ok*!!

First, I checked your scenario for any missing rolling stock with RW Tools. I was missing several tank cars, but substituted for those. When I tried to load the scenario, I received the follow message:

Scenario Failed to Load Error

Driver \CN 8023 Mixed Freight at Lat 34.08490 Long -117.11893 - Unknown error -

Driver \CN 8023 Mixed Freight at Lat 34.08490 Long -117.11893 - Missing Marker - Norfolk River Coal Unloader Siding 1

Driver \CN 8023 Mixed Freight at Lat 34.08490 Long -117.11893 - Missing Marker - Norfolk River Grain Unloader Siding 2

The CN 8023 Mixed Freight is a single locomotive and I couldn't find any errors there. The locomotive runs just fine in other scenarios. However, I did not have the two siding markers listed in the error message. Have you made changes to the Eagle Ridge route that I might not have?

I discovered part of the problem. On my version of the Eagle Ridge RR, the Missing Markers - Norfolk River Coal Unloader Siding 1 and Norfolk River Grain Unloader Siding 2 do not have the numbers (1) and (2) listed. They are just listed as "Norfolk River Coal Unloader Siding" and "Norfolk River Grain Unloader Siding." I don't know how to check to see if I'm using an older version of the route. In fact, I think I downloaded it from the Railworks America website.

You know what. I just remembered that I changed the names of those two markers when I was making the scenario because I thought they were both called the same thing. **!!bang!!** I thought it might cause confusion when you have to pick up the hoppers at that sit. I'll go ahead and fix it. Thanks for catching it.

The problem has been fixed. I'll be sending you a new version of the scenario in just a minute.

I also must ask which tank cars you were missing? I can either replace them if I forgot where I got them or add them to the list of assets.

I never purchased the US Wagon Pack, but have gotten most of the other rolling stock through purchases such as the NS Hi-hood SD40 pack. It shouldn't have caused a problem to substitute other tankcars with RW Tools. The bigger issue is the two siding marker names. I have no clue what is causing the Driver consist error.

Have you tried the fixed version I sent you? (You'll have to swap the tank cars again. I'm actually just going to have them replaced in the final version) I'm not having any problems loading up the scenario with the markers back to their original names.

Just downloaded the "fixed" version. What did you do to "fix" it?

Your fix worked! Activity runs just fine. Only had two problems: 1) AI Train #2 reached its destination just as the player train reached it and stopped - minor. 2) For some reason, I cannot couple to the boxcars at Cartwright Siding #1. I saved the scenario and will go back to it later. Must go take care of some business contacts at the moment. Good activity...thanks for your work.

for some reason when i try and load the scenario i get the message "something bad has happened". i am going to try redownloading the route as i have an old version that probably has some corrupt files in it, as i cannot play freeroam on this route for more than 30 seconds without that same error message. i will let you know how that goes as soon as i do that!
