default turntable position

Unread postby Popoff » Wed Feb 09, 2011 10:14 am

Could someone please tell me how to set the default turntable position in RW scenario editor? I can set the default switch positions but I can't do a thing with the turntable.
Thanks

In my experience, this simply is not possible at the scenario level. In fact, it is quite difficult to achieve even at the world editor level, and such a change affects only your copy of the route. I'm guessing that you want the player train to cross over the turntable to the track directly opposite the one that the train is already on. The good news is that it is now possible to place a Drive To instruction that achieves this, but it is up to the player to move the turntable. I'm not sure what would happen if you wanted to have an AI train to cross an inconveniently alligned turntable. Maybe I'll experiment with that.

Thank you, Old Prof, for your response. I had about given up hope of hearing from anyone. I have learned a few things about turntables myself since my original post. I have found that both a player driver and an AI driver can cross over a properly aligned turntable to a destination on the other side. However, if the turntable is not alighed, I get the error message "Driver...Can't find destination...". Also, if the player or AI driver's origin is ON the turntable, he can't get off without the same scenario-ending error. It took me a while to learn this because I was working with the turntable in "Moscow, Camden and San Augustine 1920s" and the turntable in this route doesn't work correctly.
