Exit from Scenario to the Scenario Editor

Unread postby doyletom » Sun Jan 17, 2016 6:14 pm

I have a question and I apologize if it's here on the site.

After running some parts in the scenario live, is it possible to exit back in to the Scenario Editor without having to Exit and go through the prompts at the main menu?

Hit Cntrl + E to enter world editor and then click the train in the top left window to enter scenario editor.

Rich,

Thanks. For some reason the lock was on and the train icon wasn't highlighted. I unlocked it and then got the warnings.

However, now I can quickly get to the editor.

I'm just curious: why would you want to switch to the scenario editor while driving a scenario and would it then be possible to return to the scenario without saving changes made while in the editor?

Switching back and forth strikes me as an interesting possibility, but what are the possible consequences with an editor that already includes some shaky programming?

!*don-know!*

He didn't say he didn't want to save, he just didn't want to exit the scenario, go to the main screen, click build, click edit, and load the whole thing again. This way it's one keystroke and one click and you're in, no reloading about it. After you make your changes and save it has to reload but it's still half the reloading. It comes in handy when you are checking AI timings and stuff and have to keep exiting.

Oldprof,

I was testing .LUA scripting elements. As Rick said, it was too cumbersome to exit-menu-build-edit.

I will note: One time I used PLAY from the timetable view. It ended up trashing my Scenario because somehow it got saved at the point I was looking at.

Yes. Never use PLAY with your working version, only with a copy of the scenario.
Not sure it's even worth the bother.

I go to the editor while running a scenario if I see something on my route that I want to change. I make the change, then get right back into the scenario.
