Setting Destinations

Unread postby WhiteKnight77 » Mon Jan 03, 2011 2:38 pm

I am trying to create a scenario and I added my engines and was finally able to set my destination. After saving everything, I entered the player world and found my train was automatically moving without me in it. Apparently it believes it is AI. I see that I need to set my destination in the scenario icon, but when I click on it's properties, I do not see anywhere to set the destination. What or how do I do that? I am at a loss as to how to do so. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

I think you still need to tick the 'player train' checkbox in the scenario editor. You can find it either on the right flyout window, after double-clicking the driver icon of your train, or in the timetable view of the editor by selecting your service and then selecting the driver/service info there (first entry in the timetable list on the right).

The 'player train' checkbox has a little train engine as its symbol, looks a bit like a high speed train.

Hope that made some sense.

Cheers,
Michael

PS: If you have set up a free roam scenario with AI traffic, the player train icon may be greyed out. In this case, you can however still "take over" any of the AIs in play mode by simply clicking on it in the scenario. To make this easier, you can adjust the start time of the AIs to a few minutes after the start of the scenario, which will give you enough time to click on its locomotive.

Yeah, I have seen the tick box, but cannot do anything with it, even though I have tried to make it a standard scenario, at least that is what I mark it as when I try to create the scenario, yet, it becomes a free roam scenario. !*hp*!

How do I ensure my scenario stays as a standard scenario instead of a free roam one? Also, how do I edit the current one from a free roam to a standard scenario so I do not have to start all over?

Thanks again, Mike

Hi Mike,

From what I understand from your post your train goes on the move itself, is this during the scenario or in the world editor screen ? or both?

Firstly when you are in the world editor view go to the timetable view and select your service

When it shows all the instructions for your consist click the driver icon at the top that has the start time of your consist and make sure the box next to the train is ticked to make it a player train and not AI

If that is done and you are still in editor view it may be that you have clicked the small play button at the bottom of the screen that shows how your scenario runs. Click on the big play button and it takes you out of the editor mode and asks you to save changes, make sure to click yes ( sounds silly but I have forgot to save the cnages on a few scenarios I was creating after spending 3 hours placing and instructing trains)

That should fix the problem and allow you to play the scenario as it is intended

Thanks for the reply Mark and sorry about not answering sooner, but work gets in the way of having fun sometimes and I haven't been able to get back to check this thread out in a while. I wasn't able to figure out what was going on with the scenario I was trying to make so I ended up deleting it. I remade it and was able to enable my train along with AI trains, but ran into some other problems that I don't recall were right off. I believe it is my train derailing on a bridge and am unable to go any further. I need to replay it to make sure.

Thanks again, Mike
