Where are located the consists created with the Custom consist editor?

Unread postby jalsina » Tue Oct 13, 2015 12:18 pm

I have been making some consists in Quick Drive using the Custom Consist Editor. Until now I have used them only in QD runs.
And I would like to use those consists in some scenarios I may be doing using the Build Scenario Editor. However I can´t find those consists. !*don-know!*
Can you help explaining how to locate those consists for their usage and even editing them in the Scenario Builder?

Your custom consists are in the file named ConsistTemplates.bin in the Content folder of your Railworks.
You can edit that .bin file with RW_Tools, or drop it on Serz.exe to get the source .xml file.
You can edit the .xml file with a good text editor like Notepad++. When done, drop it on Serz.exe again to convert it into the .bin file.
You must restart Railworks to make it recognise your edits.

On the startup screen you'll see a message flashing by, something like 'Creating Rail Vehicle Database", when the game collects all scenario consists and your custom consists for the trains and routes selection screens.

When you are in the editor, it's a button that says consists when you hover the cursor over it. Its right next to the buttons for engines and cars. They should be under whatever name you gave them in the Quick Drive editor.

You did name them when you created them?

Edwin,
Thanks again. *!!thnx!!*
I looked inside the ConsistTemplates.bin with RW_Tools . It could be edited even to bypass the infamous Custom editor
Do you know if code from that bin could be copied and pasted to an scenario?
Has anyone done that? *!question!* Or it has no case to do it, considering what Ericmopar has exposed here.

I don't know what I did when I tried some time ago, but it works perfectly. The custom consists area all listed in the consist listing. *!!thnx!!*
