Custom Consist Types for Quick Drive AI question

Unread postby Captainbob » Sun Apr 26, 2015 10:53 am

I made my first Quick Drive scenario on the NY New Haven route this weekend, and everything works fine except when using consist types for the fixed consist and Ai. It seems that that the preload folder for the NY New Haven route only contains about 12 items of rolling stock, a mix of passenger locos and passenger cars. I am assuming that the preload folder for that route is what the AI selection is made from, but not totally sure. I noticed immediately that if I selected anything put regional passenger trains for AI, no AI would appear at that AI marker, and none of the freight selections in the selection box for AI spawns anything. Not understanding quite how all this works yet, I used RW tools to make my own preload folder and I put some locos and freight cars in it and I can call that up when I start the Quick Drive and select the players loco and consist that I made with RS tools, so that part works. But I can't find a way to get that loco I made to appear when I program my AI spawn point. Now here is my question, I noticed that there a several custom selections under the passenger and freight car types. I have watched just about every tutorial and googled this topic extensively, and can't find out if the Custom selection AI can be made to get a particular consist so that it will run with AI, or any directions on how to program or create a custom entry.

I do not know how to help you, but the update said something about the QD AI being random now?? No clue how to set it up though as I only made 1 QD scenario so far and did not put any AI in it. Also RW Tools can make consist fragments. I have never tried that either.

After playing some more with RW Tools I found that in RW tools, when you create a QD consist in the Scenario editor, when you save it at the end you can put it in one of the Custom positions that show up when you are assigning which consists you want to appear when you are programming your Quick Drive AI Marker. Once I got used to working with RW Tools making a consist or fragment for QD, it took me just a few minutes to make one.
