Having issues with a hosted scenario

Unread postby deimos256 » Sat Aug 28, 2010 12:54 pm

I downloaded a scenario from the downloads section called After the storm, for the Ft kent route, and on the way out of the yard that you start in, after Service 2 passes, I constantly derail. The junction cannot be switched and its extremely frustrating, does anyone have this issue? How can I resolve it? Thanks for all the help.

If the junction cannot be switched I suspect it may be an auto switch. If the player service is pathed through it you will always derail if the points are not aligned for you to go through ( set against you ).....meaning it is set for AI traffic or you haven't completed your tasks prior to arriving at that switch. Most likely it is an AI that is still coming or stopped for some reason further up the track.
Is there a signal for your exit of the yard??..if so does it give you a proceed color. Is there a signal out on the track...check it's color.
Use your "fly key"...( the 8 key ) and have a look. Use your 2D map ( the 9 key ) and pan the Route to see what gives.
There can be several reasons...you need to narrow it down some, by eliminating some of the above suggestions.

The signal to exit is red. In the scenario, you are held there while a passenger train stops at the station just before. I have waited for the train to stop and proceed on. Since the end of the line is just further ahead I have watched the train disappear on the map and the switch never switches allowing me to go. Forgive me I'm fairly new and don't know all the fine points of scenarios etc.

I was going to download this scenario and test..but there are too many downloads and some of the older breed from Railsimulator.
Besides, the author of this scenario should follow or track his product if he wants folks to run it.
I would say there is another AI somewhere ahead of you...either going away or coming towards you. Use the 9 key on your keyboard, this will bring up a black 2D overhead map for viewing signals, AI's ahead.... and in this case fault finding. In the bottom right corner you will see two icons...a screen monitor that will give you a flyout screen in the top right corner. Here you can hide things displayed on the 2D map like signals, siding names...etc by checking or unchecking the green ticks....good for when you are in congested yards. The other is your loco and it will be red when you first start the scenario like the color of your train which should be red also and usually in the middle of your screen......all other trains ( AI'S ) should be blue. If you have started the scenario and go into the 2Dmap screen click on the red train like icon on the bottom right and it will turn blue and the 2D map will follow your train.
Also on that 2D map you will see round dots with colors...these are the signals and will show aspect colors of what condition that signal is in. This is a way to see why your junction ( switch ) is set against you by the color of the other signals. If you hold down the right mouse key, you can grab the screen and pull it anywhere you like...good to look ahead. Also the scroll button of your mouse will let you zoom in and out....

Hi sorry .. been away for awhile working abroad..

I dont seem to be able to recreate the error.. There is no train moving a way from you and none of the testers had a problem, the signal should clear as soon as the passenger service passes (are tyou stopping in the correct place).. I am using the Steam version of the route.. Could it be since the last update (which steam had not done to this route when I did the scenario) that theres been a change to the track in some way?

I'm stopping just before the signal. Don't know if that's the right place or not.
