Issues with Scenerio starting points

Unread postby ozinoz » Fri Nov 12, 2010 9:38 am

Hoping somebody can point me in the right direction.
I am having trouble creating scenerios on certain routes. When opening the scenerio editor > create new scenerio, there is a lat / long display and a drop down box that lists the available starting points. On the default routes (and the freeware BN Big Horn Sub) this is fine, but on the P&LE, Soldier Summit and even the payware Colton & Northern, the only option is a point called "Route Origin" which creates to a flat green landscape in the middle of nowhere.
Research has turned up little - does anybody know what the issue is (I think it is to do with route markers?) and more importantly, how to correct it. RW Tools is not showing there is any issues in the routes.

After more than half a year away from RW I have finally managed to get back, bought some new rollingstock, but now cant get into the sim.

Cheers and thanks

You are correct, the route marker folder would be the issue - no folder at a guess. What I do is....fly around in the WE ( World Editor ) and note the long & lat values of nice spots to start scenarios. Back to Scenario Editor, add the long & lat value in the set location boxes, select scenario type and then Create Scenario. Add your scenario name in the box and then click create. Your new scenario marker will then appear at the spot you selected.
Another option would be to create your own Route Marker folder with *******.bin & *******.dcsv files for that particular Route, using the existing markers already in the Route.

Oz
I see that you have submitted 2 or 3 more posts since this one and the last one your starting comments were “Now I have managed to get my starting point issue out of the way “........ I can get on with a Steam Scenario pack for the P&LE if the feeling of the waters was there.
Now…. I don’t look for or ask for pats on the back or big note myself, but I do expect that if someone asks for help and folks give such then a simple “ Yep, that did the trick …or I worked it out for myself” is an ample and sufficient reply for the help they offered you.
The reason I ask of this is that it worked for me and an answer in return would have been nice, to verify such that it does work and be knowledge to know for other folks who may have encountered this same issue.
As far as I know it is still a reasonably free world, where you are entitled to say as you wish within reason and do as you want also, so you please yourself.
Going by your username you may, may be an aussie ( dunno )…….if so, then your non reply is a low blow to a fellow aussie.

Cheers.
