As far as multiplayer....our sessions go well beyond that it terms of complexity. I can see the other train is a "game" function. In our busiest session we ran 29 trains. The train that saw the most traffic had a train in their window 8% of their run time. The other 92% was them listening to other trains, the DS, the Yards, MOW personnel, etc. The feature is a nice to have but has very little impact on a real railroad or in what we do. We made a decision very early in developing our system that we are more interested in running a railroad than playing a sim. It takes a special level of skills to run successfully in one of our sessions as there is much to know and learn.

We'll add it to sessions when it comes (and proves itself reliable) but be prepared for lots of long stretches with nothing in your window but trees, ballast, occasional signals and billboards.

Hope to have you join out on the railroad soon.

Adam,

I have some information on CN stuff from an MSTS project I was involved in. We were able to get info that gave the actual cuts on a given day that we were trying to recreate. Is this the kind of information you are after?

Train 101 left Saskatoon at 07:40 up the Warman Sub with two Dash9-44CW’s and an old GP40-2W with about 70 platforms worth of doublestacks.

Train 452 arrived Saskatoon just before 20:00 with CN 5797 (SD75i) & 8001 (SD70M-2) and 92 cars (20 boxcars, 9 bulkheads, 2 flats, 21 gondolas (4+5+7+7 cuts), 31 hoppers (10+17+7 up front), 9 tankers (5 cut).

Train 301 left Saskatoon 21:12 with 2578 & 2580 (2 x D9-44CW) and 96 cars – 6 autoracks (5 cut), boxcar, 3 bulkheads, center-beam, coil, 12 covered gondolas cut, 28 CWR up front, flat with two vans, 3 gondolas cut, 19 hoppers (4+4+5 cuts), 21 tankers (14 cut).

harryadkins: "When you start running trains in mountaineous terrain, most railroads will add a helper set of 2-4 locomotives to the rear of the train until the mountain is crested"

I have been told that there are times when these helper engines on the tail-end remain on the downward slopes as well for added breaking power.
