Briefing: You and your crew have been assigned to take Delta Lines Extra 2501 South across the Memphis Subdivision from South Memphis to South Monroe. We don't know why a train of farm equipment has drawn such a high priority. Our locomotive is ready with a full head of steam awaiting orders.

Dispatcher: To C&E Eng 2501 at Louisiana. Extra 2501 South meet Extra 2003 North at Louisiana. Extra 2501 South hold main track at Louisiana. Engine 2501 run Extra Louisiana to Rosedale.

MAIN is an acronym that stands for Military Authorization Identification Number. A train movement would be described as "MAIN 68638." Often these trains ran as second sections of scheduled passenger trains.
